FAITH | FRIENDSHIP | FUN

St Matts Kids is an awesome place for any child to have a blast,
make friends and experience God in their own way!

The vision of Kids Church is to love and serve the children of St Matts and beyond, to enable them to become wholehearted followers of Jesus Christ. This is based on the scripture: ‘Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.’ (Proverbs 22:6)

We can't wait to meet you and your family!

Sunday Services

On a Sunday morning at THE TEN, you’ll register your child into Kids church in the main Church building between 9.40am & 10.20am. You will then take them to their group, so you can head back to the church for the start of the service. Once the service in the church has finished, you’ll be asked to go back and collect your children from their group. We have different rooms dedicated to different age groups here at St Matts, each with ‘Room Leaders’ and awesome team members in our bright yellow t-shirts or yellow lanyards. We would love for you and your family to join us!

Creché

If you have a child under the age of 2 years old and you would like a space for them to play, or if you would like some space to feed your baby, we have a dedicated Creché room where you can find toys and comfy seating. All children are welcome to stay in the service if you would like, but this is space for you and your child to play together if you feel more comfortable in a separate room. Please ask a member of the team where the Creché is located.

Preschool Room (2 - 4.5 years old)

Our Preschool room is a play based room with plenty of free play for our little ones to engage with. There is an emphasis on child led learning with age appropriate crafts and messy play. The story and worship time gives the children a chance to express themselves whilst experiencing Jesus’ love. We want to ensure children feel settled in this room, as it can be the first time children have been left with other carers. We therefore start the ‘settling in’ process at 18 months to help children build strong bonds with our team and get used to the structure of the sessions. Parents can then be reassured and confident in leaving their little ones with us.

Foundation - Year 4 Room

Our School aged children begin the foundational knowledge of faith in the Preschool room but in the Foundation - Year 4 room, they build upon that to start owning their faith in individual ways. This is an active and fast-paced room with plenty of play, games and challenges for the children to engage with and build long-lasting friendships. The emphasis in this room is discipleship and nurturing relationships. They have their own dedicated worship time, teaching and discussion times, with plenty of craft and active play to keep them engaged.

Year 5 & 6 Rooms

Our older children are being prepared for a faith filled adulthood. In this room we focus on stretching their knowledge in scripture, challenge them in living out their faith in everyday circumstances and sharing their faith with their peers. They start their session in the main Church service, staying in for the worship, to get them used to engaging within our main church services. They do this with the Youth and share similar themes and curriculum with the Youth, for a smooth transition for when they leave Primary education.

Additional Needs

We have a passion for accessibility and ensuring that every child is able to access our groups and be with their peers. We have a dedicated Inclusion team, led by our volunteer SENCo Lorna, who are trained in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. If you have any questions about how we can support you and your family please send us an email: kids@stmplymouth.org.uk.

Events

We hold several different events throughout the year. Our Light party is the highlight of the year! We also have a family carol service that includes a nativity. In the summer we take our Year 5 & 6s on a trip with the Youth to help them get to know each other. This year we are taking them to Spree South West. Look out for parties, socials and other special events to get involved with throughout the term on our Events page!
