WELCOME HOME

We're an Anglican church planted from Holy Trinity Brompton (HTB) in September 2016 in one of Plymouth's most recognised buildings near to the University, College of Art and City Centre.

Our vision is to see the evangelisation of the nation, the revitalisation of the church and the transformation of society. We'd love to welcome you to be part of this exciting adventure! Do join us at any of our Sunday Services and other events and activities. If you really want to grow in faith, make friends and make a difference then we'd highly recommend getting stuck into one of our Teams and try out a Small Group. If you want to explore questions about life and faith then do come on our next Alpha course.

You can keep up to date with news and events on FacebookTwitter and Instagram as well as getting other news via email by filling in the form at the bottom of this page.

Welcome on board this God adventure by the sea!

With lots of love,

The St Matts Team

First time at St Matt’s? First time at church?

Welcome! Below are a few bits of information to help you connect with us for the first time and know what to expect from you visit. For information about travel please click here and our about section will tell you a bit more about our journey to this point.

What should I wear?

Most of our regulars choose to dress casually, but please wear whatever you feel comfortable in!

Who should I find if I have any questions?

When you arrive at St Matt’s you will be greeted by our welcome team who will be dotted about the church in either blue t-shirts or “host team” lanyards. They’ll be able to help you any time during your visit.

What about my kids?

On Sunday mornings we run a full kids program. Our kids join us for the first few songs at the start of the service, then they go out to their groups - we’ll make it really clear when this time has come. For further details about our kids work, please click here.

How about buggies and wheelchairs?

There is an entrance ramp to the left of the church as you face it. This will lead you to the side entrance for easy buggy and wheelchair access.

Where are the loos?

You will find toilets easily signposted in the church towards the front. There is a disabled access toilet and plenty of baby-changing facilities.

What can I expect during the service itself?

The service will start with a few songs and the words will be on the big screen for you. If you don’t know the songs, just relax and listen. Feel free to sing, clap, tap your feet – whatever you are comfortable with. Most people will stand during any music, but equally, feel free to sit if you wish.

Following the first few songs, there will be announcements and then, in the morning service, the children will head to their groups while the adults spend some more time in worship. This is followed by the day’s talk after which there will be an opportunity to respond to what have you have heard.

We’d love to give everyone who attends St Matt’s the chance to be prayed for — though there is no pressure at all. If you would like to be prayed for, you will find a team ready to receive you at the sides of the stage. The service leader will point this out and make it really clear for you. Sometimes you’ll find the format a little different. We assure you that you will not be made to feel embarrassed, asked to speak, identify yourself as new or made to come forward.

Services last 1hr 30mins with the café open half an hour before and plenty of time afterwards. If you have brought kids, you won’t need to pick them up until 11.50am should you wish to have some space to yourself at the end.

How do I get more involved?

We endeavour to meet everybody who is new, but it would help us a lot if you would make yourself know to us by filling in a “Join The Adventure card” (on your seat) if you plan to keep coming back. The card will ask for your email address so that we can send you our weekly newsletter. But don’t worry, we won’t spam you or pass on your info to anyone else!

Once you know this is the place for you, we'd love you to sign-up for one of our Join The Adventure sessions!
