Acts 4 Fund

Supporting our Family through the Acts 4 Fund

The Acts 4 fund has been set up to help those in the St Matts’ family who are experiencing a financial crisis.

In the world we are bombarded by material things.  Advertising leads us to believe that if we have the latest car, game, clothes, holiday then we will be happier and more fulfilled.  This is a lie, we know that our happiness and fulfilment comes from God alone, BUT it can be challenging to not get caught up with it.  God asks us to hold onto things lightly as ‘time is short’.  ‘Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Matthew 6:25

In Acts 4:32 Luke states ‘All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had.’

As part of the body here at St Matts’ what could you give towards this Fund, either regularly or as a one off gift, in order to share what you have with those who may not have much at the moment?

As Christians and part of the body of Christ, we are all called to help those in need. As we are blessed by God, then we are called to bless others. Isaiah 58:7 says ‘Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter?’  We are called to be more like Jesus, so what would He do if he saw someone struggling today?  Barnabas sold a field and brought the money to lay at the apostles’ feet. But it is not about how much you give, it is about the sacrifice you are willing to make.    In Mark 12:42 ‘A poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”’

God loves us, every part of us, and rejoices in our happiness and wellbeing.  He wants a relationship with us, He wants to bless us and He wants to help us when we are struggling.  As Paul says in 1 Corinthians 12:27, ‘Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.’. We are family and all part of the same body of Christ.  If one of us is hurting, then all of us have a responsibility to help.  We are family.

If you are struggling, God is waiting for you to reach out.

If you have been blessed, God is waiting for you to bless others.

Please pray and see how God would like you to support this initiative.
